Robert "Bob" Lee Cohron, 82, passed away in McPherson, KS on December 13 th , 2020.
Bob was the youngest of three, born on May 14 th , 1938. Bob met and married his first wife Kathy in Wichita, KS while he was stationed in the Air Force at McConnell AFB. Shortly after their return to Wichita after his discharge, she passed away.
He met Patricia Jean Shultz in Wichita, KS and married her on September 3 rd , 1999. After retiring from Vulcan, Bob and Patricia moved to Virginia before coming back to Kansas in 2007. Before moving back, they bought a Shih-Tsu/Yorkie named Cujo to come back with them. Bob loved taking Cujo on walks through Hutchinson. Cujo loved to smell every power pole on the sidewalk, and when Diane walked with them, she told her dad that Cujo was just reading his p-mail.
From 2008 to 2018, Diane lived in the mother-in-law apartment on the other side of their one car garage. Bob would call from his house to the apartment to talk about shows on TV of people restoring 1960's Camaros. He tried numerous times to get Diane's 1984 Camaro submitted to the TV show to be restored. Bob loved watching TV from Western to World War II movies to car restoration shows to high end car auctions. He would always call Diane to tell her about a car she might be interested in and which channel he was on.
Bob was a 32 nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason. He kept his membership as he traveled the world, and belonged to the Hutchinson Lodge at his death. Bob loved to bring home souvenirs from his travels such as several tiny blown glass animals form Venice and a rearing stallion from monkey pod wood from the Philippines. Bob was also a member of the Countryside Baptist Church of Hutchinson. Even though Bob was a little bit of a loner, he would always go with "the guys" from church for coffee on Wednesdays.
He was a man who wanted the best for his wife. Bob would insist that Patricia shop at Dillards for clothes. Even though she didn't care about those things, Bob wanted to provide the best for his wife. He was always ready to give unused coats and other clothes and shoes to his grandsons.
When he was young, he used a kit to build a clock that was given to his oldest grandson. In Virginia, he made a sewing table with his brother for Patricia that was lower than most due to her short stature. He always wanted to learn how to do stained glass, but worried that if anything fell it would hurt one of the kids or the dog.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Kathy, and siblings.
Survivors include his daughter Diane Rapp of Preston, KS; his Grandchildren, Teri Jo (Joey) McAvoy of Southhaven, MS, Amy (Tomas) Padron Rodriguez of Wichita, KS, Brian Jung of Preston, KS, Joseph (LeAnn) Murer of Dyer, AR, and Patrick Murer of Lawton, OK; 18 Great-Grandchildren; and 2 Great-Great Granddaughters.
