Obituary

Robert ( Bob ) Leroy Raner, 70, of Hutchinson, Kansas, passed away July 24, 2020 at a private residence in Hutchinson with his loving family among him. He was born as the second child of Herb and Edna Raner on December 6, 1949 in Hutchinson and was a 1967 graduate of Buhler High School.  After high school, he married Susan Carol ( Folck) Raner.

Survivors include:  son, Jeff Raner, Tempe, Arizona; daughter, Jaclyn Raner, Mesa, Arizona,  and daughter, Julia Raner, Sarasota, Florida.  He is also survived by his 7 grandchildren and 5 nieces and nephews.   Other survivors include his older brother, Ed Raner, Shawnee, Kansas and his younger sister, Nita Regier, Moundridge, Kansas.  He was preceded in death by his father, Herb Raner, his mother, Edna Raner, his ex-wife, Susan Carol ( Folck) Raner and his daughter, Jennifer Raner.

Bob was a lifelong sales rep working for Lowen Sign Company throughout his 20's and 30's and other various companies into his 40' and 50's.   His interests outside of work were many, including being an avid whitetail deer hunter and Kansas game bird hunter.  He was a firearms enthusiast who enjoyed reloading and gunsmithing.  He was an active member and official of the the Golden Gloves Boxing Organization ( Kansas-Oklahoma Chapter) for over 25 years.  Bob had a great love for music; enjoying blues, rock and folk, just to name a few.  Another one of his favorite past times was auto racing, which took him all over the country for various open wheel events.  These racing events took place throughout the Midwest where he spent quality time with many close friends and race fans.  Most recently, you may have seen him working part-time at Strataca ( Underground Salt Museum) as the tour guide, leading thousands of people from all over the world on a journey through the mine's underneath Hutchinson.  He was a board member on the Buhler High School Alumni Association and loved to be active within the community.  On Tuesday evenings, he enjoyed riding his bicycle with the Tour de Carl's Bicycle Club.  Bob was a great father and a friend to many people.  His memory will be with us forever.

All memorial cards and offering gifts need to be made out to Memorial Park Cemetery of Hutchinson, Kansas and left in care of Old Mission- Heritage Funeral Home, 528 North Main Street, Hutchinson, Kansas 67501.

A celebration of life memorial service is being planned for  September 19, 2020 at 10:00 a.m.  at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5905 West 4th Street, Hutchinson, Kansas
