Robert Dale Stelter, 75, passed away on September 11, 2020 at his home with his loving wife by his side, in Hutchinson, Kansas. Robert was born at home, September 1, 1945 the son of Michael and Rosie ( Cameron) Stelter in Outlook, Washington. Later they moved to Othello, Washington where he graduated from Othello High School in 1962.
He was a veteran of the United States Army. After serving his country, he worked several jobs until finding his passion of driving a semi truck in both long haul, and short haul for 56 years, in the farming industry with over 5 million miles over the road until retiring in 2008. After retiring, he still drove a semi until 2017.
In his spare time, he enjoyed working on cars, woodworking projects, fishing, hunting, and working in his yard and growing a vegetable garden, raising cattle, ducks, geese and chickens. He loved being in the mountains and the ocean, they were is happy places. Spending time with family was his most important role and being a Papa was his ultimate pleasure. Bbq's and campfires with family and friends and playing horseshoes were always enjoyed by so many, and will be treasured memories.
He met the love of his life, Barbara Lorrine Choate in Othello, Washington in February 1985, and later married February 14, 1990 They lived in Washington until moving to Kansas in 2003. She survives of the home after being married happily for 35 years.
Other survivors include: 4 sons, Richard ( LeeAnne) Stelter, Joey Stelter, Gary Choate, Bradley Choate; sister, Barbara Caylor, 16 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Harvey.
A celebration of life will be held on October 13, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Apostolic Faith Tabernacle, 1319 East 17th Avenue, Hutchinson, Kansas.
