Ronald Eugene Anderson, Sr., 82, passed away September 20, 2018 at his home in Hutchinson, Kansas. He was born in Washington, D.C., the son of William and Esther Anderson. He was a retired employee of the City of Hutchinson, having worked for the street maintenance department for over 20 years.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, and a commander for the Hutchinson AMVETS Association. He loved to work in his vegetable gardens, enjoyed watching old western movies and comedy television shows. Spoiling his grandchildren and great grandchildren was the greatest joy in his life!
After completing his service in the Army in 1956 he married Peggy Parrish and they later divorced.
Survivors include 1 son, Ronald, Jr. (Jill); 3 daughters, Judy (Dennis), Gayle (Alan), Shelly; 2 brothers, Bill and Robert; 2 sisters, Delores and Carol; 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, Ernest.
A gathering for family and friends will be held Wednesday, September 26, 2018 from 9:00 – 11:00 am at Old Mission – Heritage Funeral Home, 528 N. Main, Hutchinson, Kansas. A celebration of life will follow at 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home as well with military honors. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to AMVETS Department of Kansas, and left in care of the funeral home.
