Ronald Ira Berends, 64, passed away May 24, 2015 at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson, Kansas. He was born January 5, 1951 in Hutchinson, Kansas, the son of Everett and Goldie Berends. He retired from Eaton Cessna after 34 years of dedicated service.

He was an avid toy train collector, enjoying bowling, and loved camping with his family.

On December 7, 1974 he married Dona Rae Reed in Hutchinson, Kansas. She survives.

Other survivors include 4 daughters, Tammie (Andrew) Dieker of Galva, Kansas, Rona Mock and Dawn Berends of Hutchinson, Kansas, Jolene (Christopher) Hafenstine of McPherson, Kansas; 4 sisters; 2 brothers; 13 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, 1 grandson and 1 great grandson.

A gathering for friends will be held Thursday, May 28, 2015 from 4:00 - 8:00pm with the family being present from 5:00- 7:00 at Old Mission - Heritage Funeral Home, 528 N. Main, Hutchinson, Kansas. Graveside celebration will be held Friday, May 29, 2015 at 10:30 at Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Ronald Ira Berends Family Memorial Fund and left at First National Bank, Hutchinson, Kansas.
