Roy Ray Simmons, 78, passed away November 4, 2015 at Diversicare Health Center, Hutchinson, Kansas. He was born August 29, 1937 in Houston, Texas. He was a retired gas and petroleum proprietor.
He had a knack for being able to take things apart to see what made them work, but never could quite get them back together again. Roy was a big fan of soap operas, particularly the Young and the Restless, and rarely missed a WWE match on television. A pro football enthusiast he also followed the Kansas City Chiefs and Dallas Cowboys very closely.
On September 6, 1987 he married Diane Trammell in Hutchinson, Kansas. She survives. Other survivors include 1 son Wyatt Simmons; 1 sister, Wanda Turner: 3 brothers in laws, Allen C. Trammell, Eddie (Vicky) Trammell, Steve (Karri) Trammell; 5 grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Antonio Simmons.
A gathering for family and friends will be Monday, November 11, 2015 from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm with a time of reflection at 10:45 am at Old Mission - Heritage Funeral Home, 528 N. Main, Hutchinson, Kansas. In lieu of flowers the family has established the Roy Ray Simmons Memorial Fund and gifts may be left in care of the funeral home.
