Ruth Mae Purcell, 85, passed away December 31, 2016 at Pleasantview Home in Inman, Kansas. She was born in Lowry City, Missouri on October 27, 1931, the daughter of Walter and Anna May Lathrum. She was a dedicated wife and mother to her family.
She was known as a tomboy when growing up not being afraid to tackle anything. She loved traveling in her retirement years with her husband, Ken, in their fifth wheel all over the country. She enjoyed quilting, flower and vegetable gardening, and traditional country music.
On December 19, 1953 she married the love of her life, Kenneth Purcell in Raton, New Mexico. Their union lasted 63 years. He survives.
Other survivors include 1 son, Walter (Colleen) Purcell of Nickerson, Kansas; 1 daughter, Orpha (Mont) Bortzer of Dodge City, Kansas; 5 brothers; 7 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 daughter, Myrl, and 1 sister.
Per her request cremation has taken place and a private family inurnment will take place at a later date. Old Mission - Heritage Funeral Home, 528 N. Main, Hutchinson, Kansas is in charge of arrangements.
