Stephen R. Burkey's Obituary
Stephen R. Burkey, 71, passed away March 15, 2013 at the Kansas Medical Center in Andover, Kansas. He was born Oct. 3, 1941 the son of Robert Cole Burkey and Shirley Mae Stumpf in Peoria, Illinois.
He served 20 years in the United States Air Force and retired as a Master Sergeant in 1982. He spent the next 20 years as a registered radiology technician and two years in telemetry. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid supporter of his Kansas State Wildcats.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Josephine Frances (Withrow) Burkey; a sister, Susan Kay Williams of San Diego, California; three daughters, Billie D. Kroeker, Rita A. Clark and Rhonda L. Zywicki all of Hutchinson, Kansas; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Mitchell E. Peterson; and two grandchildren, Carl Peterson and Dathan Zywicki.
A celebration of his life was held Sunday, March 17, 2013 at the St. Teresa Family Center, Hutchinson, Kansas.
