Terry Lynn Bailey, 66, passed away September 13, 2014 at Riverview Estates in Marquette, Kansas. A resident of Hutchinson, Kansas, he was born March 23, 1948 in Chanute, Kansas, the son of Harold and Mary Alice Irene Bailey.
A graduate of Chanute High School, he enlisted in the United States Navy, where he courageously defended his country on the USS Mansfield during the Vietnam War. After his discharge from the service he returned to work for Southwestern Bell and remained a valued employee for almost 31 years. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post #7253 in Derby, Kansas, a 37 year member of the American Legion Post #136 in Mulvane, Kansas, and a member of the Southwestern Bell Pioneers. He was an enthusiast of trains and loved to paint and draw.
On January 7, 1989 he married Millie Stoughton in Derby, Kansas. She survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Shelly Bailey; 2 step daughters, Brenda Rollins (Danny), and Christie Unruh (Ben); 1 step son, Tim Stoughton (Debbie); 4 sisters, Sherry Rausch, Cindy Harvey, Christy Perez, Machelle Lewis; 3 grandchildren, Brittney, Russell, and Christopher; 12 step-grandchildren, Jenifer (Josh), Rebeca, Camile, Tyler, Charlie, (Dedra), Katie, Jake, Kayli, Kaleb, Johnnie; 3 step-great grandchildren, Braeden, Kinley, Olivia. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Geri.
A celebration of life will take place Thursday, September 18, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Old Mission - Heritage Funeral Home, 528 N. Main, Hutchinson, Kansas with military honors. Inurnment will take place at 4:00 pm at El Paso Cemetery, 700 E. Kay Street, Derby, Kansas after the celebration of life. The family requests no flowers, but, has established memorials to Riverview Estates in Marquette, Kansas, Hospice of Reno County and, The Hereditary Neurological Disease Centre, Wichita, Kansas.
