Vanita Lois Newberry, 86, passed away at her home surrounded by her family on February 4, 2019 in Hutchinson, Kansas. She was born in Wichita, Kansas on May 20, 1932, the daughter of Thomas and Edna Shook. She was a retired Certified Nurses Aide.

Vanita was baptized in the Methodist Church and was a spiritual, Christian believer. Her faith helped guide and mold her family, which was her main desire in life. She was also a proficient seamstress and a skilled sewer.

Survivors include 1 son, Randy Newberry; 6 daughters, Linda Sue Voegeli, Carol Ann Boswell-Staples, Barbara S. Weigand, LoDema Boswell, Kathy Tracy, and Candy Newberry; 21 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 sons, Thom Barnes, Tim Barnes, and Kenny Newberry, 1 brother, Kenny Shook.

Per her request cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial gifts may be made to the Reno County Food Bank or Reno County Soup Kitchen and left in care of Old Mission – Heritage Funeral Home, 528 N. Main, Hutchinson, Kansas.
