Victor Mendoza, 72, passed away October 18, 2016 at Hospice House of Reno County, Hutchinson, Kansas. Born in Sylvia, Kansas on July 28, 1944, he was the son of Frederico and Rafaila Mendoza. He was a retired kitchen aide from Sterling College.
An avid Kansas City Chiefs fan, with a building fanfare for the Oakland Raiders, he loved to go fishing, and, working in his garden. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, South Hutchinson, Kansas.
He married Francene Hoffman on December 20, 1990 in Hutchinson, Kansas. She survives. Other survivors include 2 daughters, Marla (James) Gonzales, and, Letisha (Jose) Mendoza-Galindo; 2 step sons, Anthony Baldwin and Tim McQueen; 1 step daughter, Shelley Baldwin; 3 brothers, Guadalupe (Linda), Fred (Charlotte), Ernest (Toby) Mendoza; 1 sister, Gloria (Robert) Mendoza Rodriguez; 16 grand children and 1 great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 son, Victor "Ted" Mendoza, Jr., 4 brothers, Margarito, Felix, Carlos, Esteban, 1 sister, Linda.
A gathering for friends and family will be Friday, October 21, 2016 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Old Mission - Heritage Funeral Home, 528 N. Main, Hutchinson, Kansas. In lieu of flowers the family has established a memorial fund to the American Kidney Foundation.
A Rosary only will be held on Monday, October 24, 2016 beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel at Old Mission - Heritage Funeral Home.
