The Rev. W.C. Tillman, 87, of Hutchinson, Kansas, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday April 25th, 2011. He was born on January 16th, 1923, in North Carolina. He served in the United States Army in World War II. And through his service to the Military he resided in many locations. While in Kansas City, Kansas, in 1950 he met his wife, of 61Years, Ms. Florence Davis. To this union their only son Michael was born. They then traveled to Wichita, Kansas, where he served in the Christian Ministry at Calvary Baptist Church and continued working for the military at McConnell Air Force Base.
In 1968, Rev. Tillman was called to Pastor Second Missionary Baptist Church, of Hutchinson Kansas. It is here that his life's history of over Forty Years of dynamic Christian ministry was built, and why his Legacy will be so greatly cherished. Rev. Tillman was a devoted Pastor to his church, a loyal husband to his wife, a service worker in his community with organizations such as the Salvation Army, and Hutchinson Hospital. Rev. Tillman was a minister and "Dad or Granddad" to all. He leaves behind to happily celebrate his memory, his loving wife, Mrs. Florence D. Tillman. His only Son, Michael preceded him in death on March 3rd, 2011. His grandchildren, Irene (Mitchell), Michael, Florence (Warren "Q"), and Cathy Tillman. Great-grandchildren, Sarah, Sasha, and Sade. Also to cherish his memory are the members of Second Missionary Baptist Church, many friends from other local churches in Hutchinson, and many Christian friends across the State of Kansas. Rev. Tillman, We all will Love you forever.
Home Going Celebrations: A Wake will be held on Thursday May 5th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Second Missionary Baptist Church located at 1008 North Ford St., Hutchinson, KS and A Celebration Service will be held on Friday May 6th, at 10:00 a.m. at Stringer Fine Arts Center, 1300 N. Plum, Hutchinson, Kansas.
